Powell won the Triple crown title in 2014 during his time as a professional wakeboarder. Two years later, in 2015, Powell and Irwin started dating and they were seen on the red carpet at “Dancing With the Stars” events as Irwin was a contestant at the time. In 2017, Powell attended the Irwin family’s annual crocodile research trip and he became versed in the ways of animal conservation which sparked a new-found passion within him. In 2018, the late Steve Irwin was honored with a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” in Los Angeles, an event attended by both Powell and Irwin as a couple. That same year, Powell decided to move to Australia to be with Bindi Irwin, quitting his athletic career and learning more about wildlife conservation. Powell proposed to her a year later in 2019.
