Charlotte Emma Aitchison was born on August 2, 1992, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, to Jon Aitchison, a businessman, and Shameera Aitchison, a former nurse and flight attendant. In 2010, she did, however, drop out of college and went on to study at the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London for a time. She began creating music at a young age. In early 2008, she began sharing songs from her album on her MySpace profile. An illegal basement rave promoter was drawn to her music. She started going by the stage name Charli XCX and started going to raves. Her songs were local hits soon, and she followed up with the singles ‘!Franchesckaar!’ and ‘Emelline/Art Bitch.’ She signed with Asylum Records in 2010. Alex Metric’s vocals can be heard on the song ‘End of the World,’ which was released in 2011. Her debut studio album, “True Romance,” was released in April 2013. The album’s song ‘Break the Rules’ was a tremendous smash, charting in multiple countries. She stated in July 2015 that she was working on her third album.Sound-to-color synesthesia affects her. “When I think about music, colors come to me,” she explains. Green, yellow, or brown music is my least favorite, whereas black, pink, purple, or red music is my fave.” She considers herself a feminist. ‘Body of My Own,’ her song, was composed as a feminist statement. She also starred in “The F Word and Me,” a B.B.C. Three documentary about gender equality that was broadcast in 2015. During her early career, she dated filmmaker Ryan Andrews, who filmed several music videos for her, including ‘Nuclear Seasons’ (2011), ‘You (Ha Ha Ha)’ (2013), and ‘Super Love’ (2013).Between 2014 and 2021, she had an on-again, off-again romance with Huck Kwong. She may not have sought to be a role model, but given her position in the music industry, she understands that it's unavoidable. "It would be wonderful to continue this discourse in a nice, non-aggressive manner so that people may learn about people's sentiments, sexualities, and perspectives.
