Background

There isn’t a person that loves American Country music and hasn’t heard of Garth Brooks. The singer and songwriter was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on February 7, 1962. His father, Troyal Raymond Sr., was an oil company draftsman, while his mother, Colleen McElroy Carroll, was a 1950s country singer. Brooks grew up in a large family. He is an Aquarius and of Irish descent. His family always appreciated music, and they would host weekly talent nights with mandatory participation from the kids. Soon, he learned how to sing and play the guitar.A year after college graduation, Brooks was a regular talent in the clubs and bars of Oklahoma. He was exposed to diverse genres of music and got influenced by George Jones. However, he transitioned to Country after George Strait’s “Unwound.” He released his first album, “Garth Brooks,” in 1989, and it peaked on the charts. The album ascended to No.13 on the Billboard 200 chart. Brooks was just getting started. In 1990 his second album, “No Fences,” dropped and was number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 23 weeks. This album peaked on different charts and later became his highest-selling album. Brooks was a country singer now, but he idolized James Taylor, Billy Joel, Freddie Mercury, Bruce Springsteen, and Queen. His third album, “Ropin’ the Wind,” which got released in ’91, entered the number one spot on the Billboard 200. This was a first for a country musician. Again, Brooks was only warming up. He scheduled his first world tour in 1993 across the UK, Brazil, New Zealand, and Australia. Several more albums and standing ovations later, Brooks announced his retirement on October 6, 2000.Brooks was still selling millions of albums through Walmart. By 2005, Brooks began recording again, and by 2009, he started “Garth at Wynn,” a Las Vegas concert residency. This lasts till January 2014. By September this year, his comeback world tour was in full swing, and in 2019, his Stadium Tour followed suit. Brooks’ success is immeasurable.
