National Skincare Education Day 2024 – June 1, 2024

National Skincare Education Day takes place every June 1. Higher Education Skincare started this celebration in September 2020 to emphasize the significance of incorporating safe and nourishing substances into one’s everyday skin-care routine. This day aims to raise awareness about the importance of proper skincare and help people better understand their skin. It is essential to know what products are best for your skin type and how to apply them.

History of National Skincare Education Day

Skincare is one of those medical advancements that often fly under the radar. Most people don’t realize how far we’ve come in taking care of the skin, the body’s largest organ. But skin-care routines actually go all the way back to Ancient Egypt. Youth and its preservation were important parts of this culture, so they cleansed their skin with olive oil and clay mixtures and moisturized it with milk masks.Similarly, the Ancient Greeks used natural products to nourish their skin. Years later, in the 1800s, skincare was considered a luxury, something necessary only for individuals in higher social classes. During this period, skin-care products were pricey and difficult to come by.Fortunately for everyone, skincare really took off in the 20th century, when countless cosmetic products and skin-care brands still popular today started to emerge. In 1937, the popular lip balm brand Carmex was created, while sunscreen was formulated in 1944. Two years later, Estée Lauder debuted their cosmetics brand in New York City, followed by Clearasil, Ponds, Oil of Olay, and Clinique in the 1950s. Natural skin-care products became more popular in the 1980s, with Burt’s Bees launching within the decade and Dr. Howard Murad’s brand debuting in 1989.
