National Ty Day 2025 – January 22, 2025

National Ty Day takes place every year on January 22. Tyler, Tyrese, and Tyrone are just a few examples of Ty being associated with the first two letters of a boy’s name. Ty is also the name of the company that created the popular Beanie Babies. Beanie Babies are a line of stuffed animals created by H. Ty Warner, an American businessman who founded Ty Inc. in 1986. Beans, rather than the traditional soft cotton filling, are used to stuff the toys. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the majority of them are in animal-like forms.

History of National Ty Day

H. Ty Warner, a wealthy toy manufacturer, businessman, and former actor from the United States, invented Beanie Babies. Warner is the founder, owner, and C.E.O of Ty Inc., which makes and distributes plush toys such as Beanie Babies and other brands. He also owns the Four Seasons Hotel in New York, which he purchased with proceeds from the Beanie Babies craze in the late 1990s.Warner first unveiled Beanie Babies in 1993 at the World Toy Fair in New York City, New York. The toys were not produced until 1994, and were originally marketed in local retailers in Chicago, Illinois. There were nine Beanie Babies in the beginning. Beanie Babies have been unavailable in larger chain stores since 1994, and can only be purchased in tiny, specialty stores such as gift shops and local toy stores.By 1995, sales of beanie babies had slowed considerably. Ty Inc. introduced Teenie Beanies, a miniaturized version of the original Beanie Babies range, in 1996. In 1997, they were sold with McDonald’s Happy Meals to celebrate the product’s 17th anniversary.Ty Inc. ceased operations in 1999 but due to consumer demand, production started up again in 2000 with a Beanie Baby called ‘The Beginning.’ In 2008, a new edition of Beanie Babies was launched — the Beanie Baby 2.0. Upon purchasing you were issued with a code to access an interactive website, but the site no longer exists.
