Roberts is the youngest of four children, and she attended Pass Christian High School, graduating in 1979. Roberts attended Southeastern Louisiana University and graduated cum laude in 1983 with a communication degree.Roberts began her broadcasting career in 1983. She was WDAM-TV’s sports anchor and reporter in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The following year, she moved to W.L.O.X.-T.V. in Biloxi, Mississippi. By 1986, Roberts became the sports anchor and reporter for W.S.M.V.-T.V. in Nashville, Tennessee. She moved on to WAGA-T.V. in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1988, working until February, 1990, when she joined E.S.P.N. as a sportscaster. In 1995, she became a featured reporter for “Good Morning America,” and in 2005, she was promoted to co-anchor. Roberts excelled at her job. She and George Stephanopoulos led Good Morning America to the top of the ratings, a position the show hadn’t held in 16 years. In 2009 and 2011, Roberts hosted the Academy Awards pre-show for A.B.C. In 2012, she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her contributions and impact on the sport as a reporter and player. By 2016, she was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and in 2018, Roberts co-anchored Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.
