History of International Victorious Woman Month

International Victorious Woman Month was first celebrated in 2006 and has grown in scope and size ever since. The Victorious Woman Project was started by Annmarie Kelly. Growing up, she read a lot of books and watched a lot of TV, which she credits with getting her through her childhood and teenage years in a not-so harmonious household. This is when she started noticing strong women and was fascinated by Nancy Drew, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Mae West to name a few. After undergoing some personal struggles, she was introduced to Jeanne, who taught her ‘new thought’ and became her spiritual mentor for 20 years. This opened up a whole new world for her, one that eventually resulted in giving her a happier and more satisfying life. She later started her own business that focused on helping people create better lives. In 2001, she got the idea to write her first book, “Victorious Woman: Shaping Life’s Challenges into Personal Victories.” She interviewed several women and ultimately chose nine poignant stories for her book. What started off as a mere idea became a book, a workshop, a project, and eventually an internationally recognized month.Nowadays, women are constantly emerging victoriously in various situations. Be it through juggling work and home responsibilities, overcoming hurdles, breaking the glass ceiling, and so on. This month is dedicated to taking stock of the growth and victories of women and celebrating them.People have been celebrating this month for 15 years now in multiple ways but women should always be celebrated, no matter what.

International Victorious Women Month, which highlights the struggles and victories of women will encourage others to strive towards overcoming their own challenges and turn them into success stories.

  2. It empowers women

While women’s victories should be celebrated every day, having a dedicated month to celebrate the victorious woman is the icing on the cake. Putting your story out there, sharing it with the world, and receiving support can go a long way in empowering and uplifting yourself (if you are a woman) and other women.

  3. It highlights their lesser-known struggles

While it is important to celebrate the victories of women, it is equally important to also highlight the struggles they face. By talking about their struggles, women can receive moral support from other women so that they know that they are not alone. It provides a chance for women to turn their struggles into success stories.
